Dear Friend,

As you read this week's WeGetIt.org Wednesday Bulletin, please be thinking of friends who would benefit from it, and then forward it to them. Thanks for your support!

Polish scientists make it simple for UN global warming panel

The Geological Science Committee of the Polish Academy of Sciences has issued a statement listing 10 reasons to reject manmade catastrophic global warming. Among the reasons:

  • Earth's climate is controlled primarily by solar and geological cycles.
  • It is always changing, and recent changes are not extraordinary.
  • Changes in "greenhouse gas" concentrations appear to be the result, not the cause, of changes in global temperature.
  • Warming since the mid-nineteenth century is a natural, cyclical return from the preceding Little Ice Age.
  • Global temperature monitoring is insufficient to warrant claims that recent warming is faster or greater than ordinary.
  • Political control of scientific research funding has corrupted the process, favoring alarmist claims, that exaggerates human influence and ignores or underestimates natural influences.
The statement originally appeared in Polish.

Christian Broadcasting Network airs climate realists

While most of the media continue to promote global warming hysteria, Pat Robertson's CBN News aired a report April 25 that might have taken many viewers by surprise. It pointed out that, contrary to the predictions of Al Gore and other alarmists, even while atmospheric carbon dioxide continues to climb, temperatures have been falling. The report points to solar cooling as the main cause of recent cooling on Earth.

Another CBN report, April 21, presented Martin Enghoff of the Danish Space Institute explaining the theory of the Institute's Henrik Svensmark  and colleagues that solar impact on Earth temperatures isn't limited to how much energy the sun emits. Variations in solar wind count, too. Solar wind shields Earth from cosmic rays, so stronger solar wind leads to fewer cosmic rays and vice versa. Since cosmic rays form cloud nuclei as they pass through the atmosphere, and clouds have a net cooling effect, more solar wind leads to a warmer Earth and less to a cooler Earth. The almost complete absence of sunspots last year and so far this year shows that the sun is emitting less energy and less wind, thus cooling the Earth both directly (less heat) and indirectly (more cosmic rays, so more clouds).

And on April 22, Earth Day, CBN featured E. Calvin Beisner, spokesman for the WeGetIt.org campaign, in a broadcast video report and a related blog, explaining that God created the Earth with positive and negative feedback mechanisms as checks and balances to prevent global climate catastrophe. In two Web video clips, CBN showed Beisner explaining how policies to fight global warming will harm the poor  and how the Biblical world view shapes our understanding of the Earth's climate system.

If you can't beat 'em, silence 'em!

Lord Christopher Monckton, Chief Policy Advisor of the Science and Public Policy Institute and a science advisor to the government of former British Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher, is a thorn in Al Gore's side. For two years Monckton has challenged Gore to debate whether mankind's effect on climate is dangerous. Gore refuses.

Monckton and Gore might have wound up testifying together at a hearing of the Subcommittee on Energy and the Environment of the U.S. House of Representatives Committee on Energy and Commerce April 24. But when Monckton's flight arrived from London, he was told subcommittee Democrats had nixed his invitation. Instead, they permitted former House Speaker Newt Gingrich, who doesn't challenge global warming, to testify opposite Gore.

Monckton, whose DVD lecture Apocalypse? No! Why "global warming" is not a global crisis is a point-by-point refutation of Gore's An Inconvenient Truth, testified before the same subcommittee March 25 alongside WeGetIt.org campaign spokesman E. Calvin Beisner.

Now, please forward this message to your pastor, other Christian leaders, and friends and urge them to sign the WeGetIt.org Declaration, too!

The more people sign, the stronger the message our leaders will hear that Biblical principles and factual evidence, not media hype about speculative fears like global warming, should guide our care for the environment and the poor.

Gratefully,

-- The WeGetIt.org campaign team
